16/6/2010 Confirmed by Nintendo of America (and others), Ocarina of Time is to be remade for the Nintendo 3DS with improved visuals, an enhanced menu and enough nostalgia value to make you go weak at the knees. Original rumour post follows.

Looks like Nintendo are going all out to make the 3DS rock your socks off when it comes out. Looking at these leaked pictures, it appears as though the massively-acclaimed fan favourite Ocarina of Time is coming to the company's new handheld wonder gadget.

You may be skeptical, but look at the URLs:

It certainly looks like Ocarina of Time to me. Or could Adult Link be making an appearance in a brand new Zelda for 3DS which just looks a lot like the N64 wonder game? Are Nintendo just yanking our chains? It's certainly been a mad few hours, it's only going to get crazier.

Yeah, I'm actually more excited about a remake of a game I've played a million times than the new Zelda...

It could just be a technical demo, or maybe it was supposed to be a surprise for later.  I can't wait to see video/pictures from Nintendo's booth.

No longer rumour its confirmed by Miyamoto himself. Hes discussing about it saying things such as item system and weapon changing. There will be changes to interface he said it will be quicker than the n64 game as far as inventory goes.

Which is a good thing because, let's be honest, that inventory screen was slow as hell to bring up every time you paused. xD (Seriously, try playing OoT and MM back-to-back--you see the difference in speed with MM as far as the menu screens and text boxes right off the bat.)

Also, hopefully they'll make it where you can skip/speed through Navi's tutorials and KG's tedious speeches.

And let the speculation begin as to whether you can OMG GET THE TRIFORCE!!!111!

I know this might be childish - and this is quite exciting - but couldn't they have remade a game that needs a remake? One which really needed enhancing and expanding to be the best it can be. Ocarina was a triumph, despite a few niggles which are likely to be addressed here.

I'm talking WindWaker. We know it was robbed of valuable development time and so there were fewer dungeons, etc. I'm sure that would still look just dandy on 3DS. I know I've been quietly hoping for a Director's Cut as it were since the New Play Control series was announced, but it hasn't happened.

I will be getting this.

It doesn't bother me as much as some, but Ocarina hasn't had the best aging process. The framerate is awful, the combat can be clunky, and the unskippable cutscenes can be a hassle. I still think it's the best the Zelda team has ever done, but I think it's benefiting more than any of the other 3D Zeldas could.

Skyward Sword followed by a Wind Waker remake?  May as well just have Shigeru Miyamoto burn down my house next.

As great as an Ocarina of Time is, I'd rather see Majora's Mask be remade but I'm totally springing for this once it comes out.

Miyamoto said they want to fix the tedium of switching to the iron boots.

You are now also picturing wallmasters in 3D. Manually

Edit: Windwaker and OoT could both use the extra dungeons added to them

They already did this in Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. I don't know why he's making a bid deal about it now.

Nice little E3 surprise, yeah I'm more excited about this than the Skyward Sword too. I really hope they do a Majora's Mask port, any excuse to replay that game.

It makes me want to play OoT, it would be nice to do so with the nice graphics instead of the old 64 graphics, but oh well...
