I don't really think the majority of people that buy Sonic games care if Shadow or Silver is in the game. I think Sega simply thinks it can't make a Sonic game without the same stupid elements they've been including since the Sonic Adventure series. I loved Sonic Adventure and SA2 as a kid, but at some point I realized that they were a huge deviation about what I loved about Sonic, and I think a lot of Sonic fans feel the same way. This product doesn't seem to be so much a return to form as it is Sonic Advance/Rush for the consoles. Thankfully I knew better than to get excited about it, so I'm not disappointed about all the suck-age leaking out about it.

I got it! And was pleasantly surprised to find it was actually good! Short, (only four Zones) but that's acceptable for a 15-dollar game. The game is a LOT like sonic 2. Sonic 2 with the homing attack (which is used really well), pseudo sonic 1 special stages (you rotate the LEVEL, pretty fun), and online leaderboards. I personally couldn't care less about the leader boards but a lot of people are sure to love them. Plus, the graphics are great! They did a good job of bumping up the quality without killing the style of the game. The music is good...but not as catchy or original as the 16-bit games. And the menu sounds are straight off Sonic Heroes...pleh. Fortunately, the interface isn't too menu heavy.
Anyway, I'm about halfway through, so I'll continue to post my thoughts.

Alright, finished it!
Pretty great game, at least by sonic standards. I felt a lot of influence from New Super Mario Bros Wii in some of the stage elements. Some pretty great 3D set-peices. The levels were pretty creative and always kept their own theme, which is different for sonic games, which usually tend to be almost the same thing for each zone's acts. Still don't have all the chaos emeralds, (It's actually a good challenge!)
I was also happy to find it took more than 10 tries to defeat the final boss. Well, I'll post my thoughts on super sonic as soon as I get him...

If you liked the old sonic games, you'll probably like this. At LEAST a little.
Btw super sonic is everything I hoped for in a 2-D sonic game. He's fast, can jump crazy high...and just look at him! He's so shiny...
Anyway, I'd give the game a solid thumbs-up. It's just so short...two days to beat it. I mean, it's only 15 dollars, but still, a little short-lived.
Sonic colors looks great, but i'm a little worried about that low difficulty comment the developer made.

You know, I played the demo and I have to say I was absolutely right in my initial assessment that it was going to be a piece of shit; but it was actually WORSE than I had originally feared...I mean, just take a look at this! Looks like it was released while still in beta form or something, if you're an old school Sonic gamester, you know that this is completely in error. I dunno what's worse; Sonic 2006 or this game. I mean, while Sonic the Hedgehog is probably the most miserable game in the franchise, at least everyone knew it was going to be a piece of crap, with Sonic 4, it's like they're promising to make it all better, and just stab you in the eye with a spork instead. Gah! |

I honestly didn't have a problem with the physics of the game. And I didn't have any weird glitches on the wii version. I think you're making mountains out of molehills here.

I never said they were the same as the genesis games. They just don't seem to be a problem to me. |
