Season 3 and this season kept me going with the promise that, eventually, the show will have a really cool endgame. After last night's finale, I don't feel so sure about this. Besides, everything I want from this show I can already get from Breaking Bad. So I'm going to sit out the rest of the series, and if people rave about the endgame, I'll come back and watch everything I missed.

Fair enough, unlike you I happily watch mediocre tv, dexter is mediocre tv with a few really good gems, and some good acting talent, so it gets into my top 20 despite some parts of the show annoying the crap out of me.

Lumens ending annoyed me, it's just a reset button.

Deb....now that, that could be interesting, some people think "deb can recognise her brother through clear plastic", if thats interesting I take back some of my complaints.

One criticism I think may be true is that this episode was edited after they had a 6th season confirmed, it seems like after chase was thrown in the ocean everything after that was forced.

Actually if the episode had ended at that point and had been an unusually short episode, I would have been much more happier.

I also would have enjoyed dexter going psycho and killing lumen when she left and ending with every viewer remembering that DEXTER IS A FUCKING SERIAL KILLER NOT A GOD DAMN SUPERHERO.

I think this season hinged on this episode, and this episode made it turn to "eh, nothing special and pretty boring in points I definitely don't want too many seasons after this" instead of "hmm a different direction maybe theres more to explore, it could end next season, it could continue for a while if they think of something"

Also Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are divorcing, wonder how this could effect the show?

http://news-briefs.ew.com/2010/12/13/michael-c-hall-jennifer-carpenter-divorce/

Probably not well.

If they write out deb I will be pissed and the show will officially jump the shark.

Hey, you were sort of right.

Julia Stiles just got a Golden Globe nomination.

Fair enough, some people say her performance was wishy washy, maybe so, but oddly it worked seeing as she's a rape victim and rape victims tend to have weird emotional states.

i'm not as up to date on dexter as the rest of you, have only viewed up to s5 ep8. however, i am not liking julia stiles in this at all. first they kill off rita (wtf?!) and then they bring in some chick who dexter should have killed for witnessing the killing of boyd. then it appears dexter and lumen (what kind of name is that?) start to bond emotionally and i seriously think they are going to make her the new rita.

note: this could all be due to my dislike of julia stiles and nothing to do with the character itself.

and la guerta is annoying me more and more, especially with how she handled the screw up in the night club and had deb take the fall for her.

and quinn....mmm he went from being mildly annoying in s4 to downright hot in s5. don't like his fixation with dexter though.

Ya know, not gonna dissagree on your opinion, but dexter killing lumen would be out of character, he refused to kill doakes and lilah did it instead.

true. it does seem like dexter is "unraveling" a bit now. i thought it was a bit slack how lumen was able to escape relatively easily from dexter's make-shift prison cell. plus he has harrison to look after now, not to mention quinn and the dirty cop (what's his name) are hot on his heels. trinity was fully fucked up - too bad quinn doesn't know what kyle butler aka dexter did for trinity's family during that time.

and those starting credits always make me hungry! damn you, dexter!

I've wanted to read this thread for months now and I'm finally able to  I must say... I really liked Lumen's character.  I thought Julia Stiles did a great job.  Was it a little predictable that they ended up together?  Yes.  Was it predictable that she ended up leaving?  Kinda.  I assumed for the longest time that she was going to end up dying at the very end, it being most effective after her and Dexter got together.  The last episode was good until the very end it I wasn't very happy.  I'm so tired of Quinn and LaGuerta...  oh and Rita dying was the best part of the whole series.

But god damn, deb not realising it's dexter behind that sheet.

Actually I personally hope they retcon that into her realising but not saying anything, and thinking dexter is just some rapist killer but not realising he's a serial killer.

If that was said around any of my college friends they may end up going to their room's crying. They all got so upset over that. One of them even declared he is done with the show. But each to their own, I guess.

Well part of me is like come on give her a break you can't see anything through that sheet. But I also think she should have realized it by now since a lot of his collegues have (that black guy that was blown up, Quinn, debs old man lover suspected something too I think). I think the series couldn't go on for long with deb knowing though. I think they are waiting until the end.

And yeah Ed link most people don't agree with me but I found her very annoying throughout most of the seasons. The idea of her being murdered was sad I just didn't enjoy her character.

Grindhouse-y Season 6 teaser (no new footage):

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVApgr1Mqto" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVApgr1Mqto</a>

Love how they completely ignore season 5.

I might go back on what I said early about not watching season 6. I liked discussing last season. It depends on the buzz around this season and if Luck starts this fall. We'll see.

Oh, and Colin Hanks is joining the show, but who cares?

They forgot the British stick insect too.

I will be very disappointed if Deb doesn't discover/confirm she knows the truth by the end of the season. I'd be chuffed if they could reveal it in the first episode, but that's just greedy. Lots of possibilities for characters uncovering the truth this season. Deb, Quinn, the nanny, this season's guest star...

Oh, and Colin Hanks is joining the show, but who cares?

Thought for a moment that was Tom's brother, but that's Jim so never mind.

He's his son. I liked him in Mad Men but I'm not holding my breath after they wasted Jonny Lee Miller so spectacularly.

I love a teaser trailer that doesn't actually show you anything new.  Great.

It's a teaser trailer with something new!

Okay, nothing we can assume is actually in the new season but it's a start. And it's doing its job and being quite the tease.

Kind of old, but nobody's posted it, so here's a proper season 6 trailer for you:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsvGslI_KcM" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsvGslI_KcM</a>

Still not planning to watch the season (at least not while it airs), but I hope you guys enjoy it.

Hello, season six. Your religious themes are going to add a much needed dose of crazy after last year's less than pleasing cult that wasn't really a cult.

So, good news and bad news. Good news: Ratings are up. Bad news: The show could come to an end unless Michael C Hall stops being a greedy cunt...

Showtime is currently in a similar situation [as Fox with The Simpsons] with its own hit series Dexter, since talks have broken down between the network and series star Michael C. Hall. The actor's contract is up after this current season, which premiered on Sunday night with a record 2.2 million viewers tuning in. That figure is up 24% from the Season 5 premiere. It is said that Showtime is offering Michael C. Hall $20 million for two more seasons of Dexter. The actor is asking for $24 million for two seasons. Negotiations are still ongoing, but it seems there is a big gap to overcome.

How in the hell $20m can sound like a poor deal to these stars is a mystery to me. There's only so many diamond studs you can stick in your dongle. One. Almost certainly...

Greed is good, huh?
