This is getting its own thread. The first season is only six episodes long, but we can get some good conversation out of that, right? Please tag all spoilers, and make sure to mark them as being either from aired episodes, future episodes, or from the comic book series. Like so: So...yeah. That pilot was really good. Great work from Lennie James especially. He completely sold his sniping scene.
The horde in Atlanta made me jump out of my seat. And as gory as the first episode was (I'm very pleased about that), the horse getting eaten was the first scene that really grossed me out. The zombie effects are very effective anyway.
Andrew Lincoln is probably the weakest lead of any AMC series so far, but he doesn't seem bad so far. That bar's been set pretty high. What did everyone else think?

I thought it was pretty good. It was slow at first but it got way better. days gone by spoiler: the black guy is bad. ass. easily my favorite character so far. I too was grossed out by the horse thing. who was that talking to him through the walkie talkie in the tank?

Lennie James was just a guest star, so I doubt we'll see him again soon. His return would be very welcome. Bear McCreary's score was fantastic the few times it popped up. I enjoyed the use of silence though. I can assume that we'll find out who the mysterious voice on the other side of the walkie next week.

Just got around to watching it. Definitely working out to be highly entertaining thus far.
Only problem is that I'm so used to watching old TV shows (just getting through season 3 of Dexter now), that I'm not used to actually having to wait to watch the next episode.

So...second episode. Definitely not as good as the first, but I still enjoyed it. I think the show will pick up once the two groups meet up. One part I didn't like about the episode: the redneck guy. Such a cartoon. I really hope that he's either off the show for good or that they're planning on adding a bit more depth to the character.

It was definitely more gross than the first episode. i can't believe he's having sex with rick's wife. i literally gagged when they were chopping up that guy then put his blood on them. and the red neck guy i felt kinda bad for at the end. i mean yeah, he's an ass but they just left him there!

i literally gagged when they were chopping up that guy then put his blood on them. That sequence (and the scenes that followed) was easily the high point of the episode. Very effective use of the zombies (and blood).
This episode was directed by Michelle MacLaren, who also directed the "One Minute" episode of Breaking Bad, and while her work wasn't quite as strong over here, I hope she returns for future seasons.

This week's episode makes me a lot more confident in the direction of the series. Lots of good drama and potential for drama.
Apparently the second season isn't starting until next October, which people are somehow surprised by. This is the channel that's had two 12+ month waits for seasons of Breaking Bad. Ten months isn't so bad.

There are only 2 episodes left! i liked that they brought in the hispanic people. at first i didn't like them but once they explained themselves i did. and i totally did not see the other suvivors' camp being infiltrated. so sad. my guess is that they're going to connect to them

Zim: Try not to make posts without context, thanks. You think they're going to bring the Vatos into our survivors' camp? Nah. They've just learned their lesson about having people too spread out. Bringing a much bigger group into the fold would only make their problems worse.
I'm really enjoying the show, but there are some kinks that I hope get worked out soon. I wouldn't be surprised to see the show come back a lot stronger and more confident next year, the way Breaking Bad did in its second season.

"Christ" sums up the show quite nicely so far, though. One of the best interpretations of a zombie apocalypse I've seen - and I've seen a fair few. I like that some of the more obvious plot devices are being handled swiftly and yet so well. The recent BBC revival of Survivors (deadly virus, no zombies) dragged out the missing relation storyline to a painfully tedious length. With TWD, it's a swift resolution and lots more characters to get attached to.
The attack on the camp came out of nowhere for me. Sure, I had a feeling the holes were going to come into play, but I was thinking series cliffhanger not end of that very damn episode. Great stuff. And the headshots have yet to get old.

I wish I could see viruses with an optical microscope, I especially wish that I could see the internal structure and the DNA inside.
Even with the best electron microscope in the world you wouldn't see anything remotely that clear or awesome, and you'd never be able to view movement.
Also that Virus well, was moving and doing stuff, Viruses don't tend to do much unless something external is, I mean Viruses aren't technically alive.
Yes I know, this is a lame thing to get annoyed about, but I wish they'd make a show where the science in it at least looked real.

I get where that would be annoying, but considering that this entire story is scientifically impossible, I'm willing to overlook it. Great episode. Inaccuracies aside, I really enjoyed the CDC sequence. Like much of this show, it reminded me a lot of The Stand. Apparently it wasn't a storyline in the comic, so I'll be interested to see where they take it in the finale. Bear McCreary. <3

Nah, not true, biology can do some weird things, while obviously a parasite makes more sense than a virus, I wouldn't say it's impossible for a virus to make a human being seemingly dead in most ways but act as a transmission vector, like a hyper rabies. Although I think massiive blood loss and organ loss would lead to death fairly quickly unlike in this. All I'm saying is, the basic premise isn't impossible, the mechanics are obviously magic. So they could have at least shown him looking at real virus micrographs using the proper microscope and then had him make had a "CSI effect" play. it'd have taken 2 seconds longer to shoot, and wouldn't have looked retarded.
