Thinking of doing my 50 Book Challenge again, but this time with an actual list to get on with - rather than making it up as I go along. So far, I have the LotR trilogy and The Hobbit, plus Digital Fortress and The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown (as my work breaktime reads), A Dance With Dragons by George R R Martin (can't wait for the paperback release so have pestered Amy that I want it for Crimbo) and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

So, any suggestions?

Currently on books 42 (The Da Vinci Code) and 43 (The Dead) in my 50 Bookathon. See link in my sig for the details.

Da Vinci you'll all know. The Dead (second book in The Enemy series), probably not so much...

I just finished the Da Vinci code a few days ago!  I'm not onto the Raw Shark Texts.  Pretty good.  Oh and also Full Frontal Feminism.

The book. I kind of feel like I'll find the sequels unnecessary, but I'll read them anyway.

A Storm of Swords is next.

But that's...

... but I'll read them anyway.

*shuts trap* Carry on, hisak!

A Storm of Swords is next.

Prepare to have your mind blown.

It's the 50 Books in 2011 update post! Well, I managed 58 books last year, which doesn't seem like bad going to me. So, that's mission accomplished.

With work, wedding-planning, house-hunting and a million other things in between, I'm not convinced I'll hit 50 this year. So I'll start with 20 by the end of June (with any luck these will be the quiet months). They are (list under construction):

1 - The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - J.R.R. Tolkien
2 - TLotR: The Two Towers - J.R.R. Tolkien
3 - TLotR: Return of the King - J.R.R. Tolkien
4 - The Fault in Our Stars - John Green
5 - The Liar - Stephen Fry
6 - Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy - John Le Carré
7 - Becoming Quinn - Brett Battles
8 - From Russia With Love - Ian Fleming
9 - The Fear - Charlie Higson
10 - Hell's Corner - David Baldacci
11 - A Dance With Dragons - George R.R. Martin
12 - The Magicians - Lev Grossman

I lied. Now I'm reading Les Miserables.

How is John Green? A few friends of mine have been raving about him but I don't know if I believe them.

The raving is completely warranted. Unless I'm as deluded as your peers. It took a while to get going, but it was that rarest of things - a book I read in one go.

I picked my awesome Zelda & Philosophy ( I Link therefore I am) book up again.  The articles provide a candid insight into the games and what makes them so unique

Bought a Kindle last week, so I've tweaked my list key to reflect any titles that find their way into my reading time through this new and quite wonderful gadget. First purchase was "Becoming Quinn" by Brett Battles, a prequel to the three Jonathan The Cleaner Quinn novels that I read last year in paperback form.

Back on to paperbacks to finish TLotR.

Lord of the Rings took a rather long time to get through with exterior distractions (wedding, work, house, Icarus), so I'm gonna be pushed for 25 books before June, especially if one of those is the epic Dance With Dragons. Although, in theory LotR was six books...

With that in mind, I'm going to try out a few slightly smaller paperbacks to bring my count back up. Starting with The Fear, by Charlie Higson. It's the third book in his zombie apocalypse series where everyone over the age of 13 has been struck by a virus which turns them into flesh-craving sickos. Lovely stuff.

Dexter 4 will probably follow, then a marathon session of the Artemis Fowl books. I read the first last year and got the other six that have been released so far for Christmas. Kids' stuff, but enjoyable.

Because it's almost over or because that character died?

Getting sick last week got me around to reading A Dance With Dragons sooner than planned. Finished it today. Almost couldn't. Martin pulled the rug from under the feet of the reader and one of my favourite characters and I found myself utterly numb and unable to continue for a while. It's up there with Sirius and Dumbledore for Potter fans.

If it takes seven years for The Winds of Winter to come out and confirm this character's fate, I may snap.

Next up: The Magicians, as recommended by Geek & Sundry book show Sword & Laser.

I liked the Magicians, not so much the Magician King the sequel. Still trying to make my way through the last book in the Inheritance series. I just can't seem to do it.

Is A Dance With Dragons any good EA?

Around 200 pages left in A Storm of Swords, which is quickly becoming my favorite book in years.

I liked the Magicians, not so much the Magician King the sequel.

Strange, most word of mouth I've heard about it has been much more positive than for the first book. Can't know until I read either of course.

Just finished Fire World by Chris Delacey. Waiting for the next book in the series, The Fire Ascending, to come out here in the United States.

Actually I liked most of the book, it's the ending that did it in for me. It's just an annoying ending. Though I hope there is a sequel the author shouldn't let end like that.
