River almost went back to normal in this episode, she's much more relaxed and not annoying.

Although I can't hate this episode entirely due to amy rory love.

amy rory love is the best love.

Such a clever little man, that Mr Moffat. Oh... That question. So simple. Yet so packed with potential. And staring us all in the face, as was said in plain sight. Hope the fall of the Eleventh is a way away yet though. Matt Smith's doing a cracking job.

A fun final episode, packed as hisak says but, to me, in the best possible way. Plenty of drama but filled with chuckles along the way. Dorium definitely one of the best side characters of the Eleventh era. And I still enjoy River. Maybe put that little toy away for a series or two, but bring her back again before Alex Kingston gets a little too old to get away with playing a woman who's actually meant to die in a few years time. Or past. Or.... Owwww....

The little nod to the late Brigadier was nice. (Not little really, not subtle, but they didn't have to do it and it was nice that they did.) Good to see Winston back. And who knew Amy was quite so dark? That's without 38 years of abandonment issues playing on her mind...

Moffat's writing can be fine when he packs a lot in, but he had enough story to tell without bringing in the frozen-in-time world. I would have liked a smaller and less exposition-heavy consequence for River's decision, more like last year's finale.

I wouldn't mind having River join as a companion for a season (just one). I think that having her around for standalone adventures would make her a lot more palatable to people who get annoyed whenever she reappears. But three companions is probably too many.

Valeyard should be next doctor.

Well he does come into being with the 12th doctor IIRC.

Really excited at the prospect of the next season just being about the doctor laying low and not doing crazy time shit, just cool space shit.

Did he direct the bad harry potter movies or the okay ones?

Also doubt I will actually have to care about this shit for like 3 years.

I liked some of those I think.

I would not be surprised if they back out on making it not in continuity with everything else, but I guess I wouldnt hate an independent story.

Oh otherwise known as the best potter movies.

Cool

Any man who can make order of the phoenix enjoyable is a man we need working on doctor who.

It was the worst of the books, worse than chamber of secrets, I will fight all who say otherwise.

Jenna-Louise Coleman was announced as the new companion today. She'll be introduced in the Christmas special. She...doesn't look like much of a deviation from other recent companions, but who knows?

So, basically I quite like her.

Kind of bummed that two of the Ponds' last episodes are being wasted on Chibnall scripts, including that which you just mentioned. Hopefully the other writers can pick up the slack.

So... many... Daleks... Really hope Moffatt has a good reason for their return, again. The Doctor has defeated them "for the last time" a little too often now. What happened to retiring them? Oh, the tabloid press got a little twattish about it.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7YGoVyRSik" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7YGoVyRSik</a>

New promo for the first half of the upcoming seventh season. There's the aforementioned and much-revived Daleks, River Song, a Weeping Cherub(?) and, from the mouth of the Doctor himself "Dinosaurs... On a spaceship!" It may be a Chibnall script, but it's still a fun concept to me and if they're going to get dark and depressing with the Ponds' farewell, I'd kind of like to have a little fun with them before they part. And what's more fun than riding through a spaceship on the back of a Triceratops? Not a damn thing.

Kind of getting the sense that Moffat wants to make a Davies-esque season this year, which isn't a bad thing, especially after last season's twisted knots. That said, last year's Christmas special also felt that way to me and I really disliked it.

Teasers for Ep1, Asylum of the Daleks, courtesy of Digital Spy:

1. There's a sparkly new title sequence - and very nice it is too!

2. "Amelia Pond is ********.

3. There's a strong feel of John Carpenter's The Thing about 'Asylum'.

4. "What can I do?"

5. Our Time Lord hero gets a new nickname. Actually, he gets several.

6. "You think ****** is beautiful?"

7. Someone makes an unusual request of the Doctor.

8. "Perhaps that is why we have never been able to **** ***."

9. References to classic Dalek episodes - going as far back as the '60s - abound.

10. "Look at the state of it."

Intriguing. Particularly number 2. Amy Pond is... Gorgeous? That's eight letters. But then so are airborne, doughier and crablike... (Oh, and deceased. ) I'm going to miss the bulk of Dalek episode references, but just seeing a historical rundown of the tin can terrors will be fun enough for me without all the nudging and winking.

And a new intro sequence. Does that mean a new slightly tweaked theme tune as well?
