TP actually had some good exploring aspects, there were LOTS of little nooks and crannies,  the problems were,

A: 90% were in Hyrule field or Lake Hylia, leaving the rest of the world to be empty.

B: there wasn't really any NPC interaction or quests involving exploration, other then fetch quests.

C:you only really found chests of Heart pieces or money, no puzzles or suprising rewards or quests.

PS
oh cool Faceless, i that case i actually agree with you...

That's because Hyrule Field comprised about 90% of "TP"s world.

It's not anything new with this game that treasure chests contain primarily heart pieces and rupees.  That's been the case for awhile.   "Windwaker" changed that up a little by scattering treasure charts around the world  (as well as triforce shards.)  What we used to have, though, in the old days, was like in "A Link to the Past" where a very helpful Magic Cape is stealthily placed under one of the graves in the cemetary, and you have to do a Pegasus Dash into it to reveal it.  Just pushing it will not suffice.    But that wasn't in an actual treasure chest.   Or how about in the original NES title where the power bracelet was underneath an Armos statue and the Magical Sword under a grave?   Or better yet,  how about all the Secret Seashells in "Link's Awakening" you actually have to meticulously dig around for, and for which finding all of them leads you to a nice power-up in the Seashell Mansion.

These are the type of "suprising rewards" I gather you are referring to that are missing now.   Treasure chests themselves have always been money-oriented.   What I'm sure you'll agree with though, is that we don't actually NEED the rupees as much these days as we used to.  Money's easy enough to come by by cutting grass or killing something.   (In "TP" I had to put on magic armor to burn money to even be able to keep the money I would find in a chest.)

Yes i agree, suprises though, could be things like the frogs in Zora river, the goron pot that you could bomb to get a HP or the deku target that could be shot to get an upgraded seed bag or the cave in MM where you could refight mini-bosses for a HP, the reward wasn't great but finding the cave and doing the deed was  fun.

And regarding hyrule field being 90% of TPs world, that is a big problem imo, its an uninhabited grass field trying to be interesting, whilst TP did a good job  of it, it means that you only have ONE exiting area, HF as opposed to a variety of different areas like the desert or the snowy peaks of snowpeak or the burning crater of death mountain etc. it would also actually give you a reason to return to those areas after the storyline had passed them, like you did in other Zelda games...

I'm not quite comprehending the second paragraph.   You DON't like that HF takes up so much area or you DO?  First  you  say it's a big problem, then you say TP did a good job of it.   What do you mean by "exiting area?"   There are several ways in and out of Hyrule Field.    I also can't figure out if you're saying that in TP you DO or DO NOT have a reason to go back to certain areas later in the game.

my bad, firstly i meant exciting, not exiting...typo,
I think that  TP made a good attempt at making Hyrule field, a grassy field into something interesting.
Hyrule field was the majority of the map in TP, unlike in OOT or MM where the map was more or less a large road to the other areas.
these other areas, such as snowpeak, death mountain, ikhana canyon, Zora's domain or the gerudo desert are far more varied and interesting then a grassy field and because of that i think more sidequests and other goings on (such as sidequests and non-story relevant happenings) should take place in many of those places rather then an uninhabited grassy field, like TP where most of the heart pieces were put in Hyrule field at the expense of places like death mountain, snowpeak and ordon woods, there is only one heart piece in both snowpeak and Death mountain and about 2-3 in ordon woods, i'd just like to be able to explore those places more and be rewarded for it as well.

I think a very special someone in this thread should go play Metal Gear solid 2 and the come back and tell me if he still finds the "Storyline>gameplay" statement to be true.

I agree on the difficulty part, the dungeons are never really devilish hard anymore and are usually blown through in an hour the first time and the enemies and bosses are WAY too easy.

Alttp was perfect in terms of dungeons and overall difficulty...it basically took the idea of the first and perfected it. How about if Nintendo would stop kissing the Oot lovers asses and take a look at Alttp hm?

Or better yet: take a huge risk and do sometihng entirely new!

There is an old legend:

"Since ancient times the gods have fought a great evil to protect their greatest creation: our world. But when a powerful guardian one day was struck down and evil was able to penetrate their defences, the end of the world and the gods seemed to near, the evil was however defeated and sealed away mysteriously like a final blow from the guardian even after death.

This evil was rumored to live on however...but in the world of mortals and dark times in the land of Hyrule were soon to follow. Having lost a hero of legend the gods and the mortals now stand before the mercy of a great evil. But legend has it that the great guardian shall return again...but this time the ancient war among the divine will come to our world as the descisions of one man will decide the fate...of the world"

TP had quite a lot of nods to Alttp, and alttp had very little story...it was basically a dungeon crawl, story is important and can greatly improve a game, but to have it run the game, like it did in tP, is very offputting...
