Okay. Hello everyone. I am creating this post because I want your opinion on something.
As the loyal followers of this site, I feel that you guys deserve the best that I can give you within my power. You guys have simply come to expect the best from when TSA was running the site and often I hear about how this site needs to have more going on on the front page.
Believe me, I want you guys to be happy. And while I cannot do everything, I would like to do everything I can.
So, I am basically asking a few key questions:
1. What should be the threshold for Zelda news? It is sort of a "How low can you go" question. Do you guys want to see Zelda-related eBay auctions if they are selling cool stuff? Does stuff having to do with Miyamoto in general count? Where should the line be drawn?
2. As far as opinionated stuff goes, do you think I should encourage user-submitted articles? I think I will try and write more stuff myself, but there is only so much that I can write about when there are no games out.
3. Do you guys want anything special. As I am from LITHCast, I love podcasts. Would you guys want a TheHylia podcast? If so, what would it contain. Or, if not a podcast then anything else?
Look guys, I am not the one who pays the bills on this site. Heck, I don't even get paid. Or if I do, then the checks keep getting lost.
So my only goal is to please you guys, not the advertisers.
Please voice your opinion below. Be respectful of me and the suggestions of the other posters.
Oh, and I do have a little something in the works that I should be posting up soon. Although I know that not everyone can get excited about it.
Feel free to comment below. If you want your suggestions to be private, go ahead and email me (click on my name, DSCUBED)
Thanks everyone!

I shall be really honest: I think this site is doomed. When I heard that TSA would turn the Hylia into a nintendo news-site I wasn't happy, because at that moment I thought nintendo went totally wrong with the wii (I have a wii now, but are still a bit sceptical. But that's another story). Later I had to admit that It wasn't such a bad idea, the only thing that stung was that they also mentioned licensed kiddie shit from third-party's.
Later TSA decided to turn the Hylia back to a zelda site, and he created Zentendo instead. I have to admit that the Hylia has become empty now that the other nintendo news has gone. And I fear we have to wait till E3 before we get some new zelda news.
If you want to turn this site into a Zentendo (wich is not a good idea) then please only mention nintendo stuff and good third-party stuff. All that rubbish kiddy shit from third-party's isn't worth mentioning.
One piece of real advise: I love all the crazy stuff hackers find inside games. Lost enemies, beta rooms, etc. Isn't it a good idea to add this stuff to your site. Of course I am talking about the zelda-games.
Oke, another piece of advise: I also love to know everything about the origins of games. What are the origins of the different names (Ruto, Zora). Were does Shigsy get his inspiration from. All the curious things about zelda games. You could do some research and place it all on your site.
I keep following your site, and hope that you can turn it into something that is more worthwile then it is now.

I've haven't comment here in sometime, since you had to register to comment but anyways, i feel that ever since Nintendo shutdown their forums and Zentendo started this site hasn't been doing so great.
Most Nintendo news is on Zentendo and i've seen alot of news come from the old zelda forums.
I think a podcast would be nice, but it needs to be a good one, you just can talk about characters without going into deep into their background and maybe try to get some people from nintendo in it...or maybe even other news sites, people who like zelda, or even maybe have some fans send in email questions or maybe hold a over the phone talk with some fans and use it.
I haven't seen any...what so ever...talk about the Zelda timeline, i know it's abit old to talk about it and noone is ever happy about it but it does get people talking.
I do like your idea about user-submitted articles but they need to be looked over by you guys first, to make it simple you need to keep the noobish stuff out,
i do like to read about Miyamoto, i think stuff about him would be nice, try to keep it zelda-related but sometimes just reading something else about him wouldn't hurt.
I'm with Henrie about the origins thing, i try to look that stuff all the time and it would be great if it was all in one nice spot.
When that guy(forget his name) held that massive zelda puzzle, people went crazy trying to win it, i think something like that would be great but bigger.
Information about Link and the other zelda characters from Brawl would be nice, some information about their attacks and how they compare to ones from the zelda games and the other smash games.
I think this site can be revived so to speak, you just need more news and stuff, looking around the internet could help this, try to find cool stuff, like people would have done something no one else has in a zelda game.
also this is off-topic but sometime around when TP came out, Miyamoto said people will be playing this game for years as they will still be looking for hidden stuff but he also said that there was still hidden stuff in Ocarina that only a few Japanese gamers had found out about and noone else, i just wanted to know if anybody else found this out (and i dont believe it was the arwing form star fox).
sorry about going off-topic.
but like i said earlier, i think once the nintendo forums closed down, the zelda fans parted ways, we need to bring them back together and make this the site it once was.

Henrie's ideas are great.
Additionally, I would love to see retro stuff and rare memorabilia (lately I've been hoping to find larger images of the *Japanese* LoZ board game on eBay with no luck -- stuff like that).
If you take fan generated content, please have a standards practice. Either accept only the best stuff (don't resort to the quality of writing on Zelda Universe, in other words) or separate general public material from the stuff that's exceptional. The same goes for fan art as well as articles. I have a really hard time finding *quality* Zelda fan art; stuff that doesn't LOOK like fan art (which is a category that should include more than just drawings, like sculpture, music and crafts).
In general, I would not be interested in seeing eBay auctions unless they are unusual, or offer images of items that are uncommon elsewhere online.
Personally, I would appreciate if you had some regular feature that could keep me updated on anything significant happening on the many Zelda forums. Often I troll around to try and pick up snippets of news, rumors, new sites or notification of any interesting Zelda related web things. Just the other day I read a rumor that Surfergirl said Retro Studios' next project would be a Zelda spin-off, but I had to seek that out myself. Basically, I just want to be informed without having to check all the big sites and possibly miss any cool stuff happening at smaller sites. Being that you're a central location with a reputation, it seems like you would be in a position for others to submit notice of such things and effectively aggregate it to a wider audience.
It can't be easy generating original content for a fan site dedicated to a series as prolific as Zelda. There are lots of other sites, and most of them reproduce exactly the same stuff. It's very encouraging that you intend to try, though, and I wish you the best of luck.

I subscribe to this via the RSS feed, and with Zelda Blog gone, what I'm looking for somewhere out in the Internet is a combination blog of occasional Zelda-related musings, and quick lists of any Zelda-related things that there are out there. Minus fan fiction because come on seriously.
I've been toying with the idea of starting something like that myself but whatever.

I found this site while searching for Twilight Princess Music. I enjoyed reading the articles and news but new stories are not posted very often. I'd be interested in any zelda related news, interviews, music, or interesting items (such as this: <http://cgi.ebay.com/Very-Rare-Nintendo-Mario-Zelda-Shaped-Cereal

Here is what I think. I know there has been an extreme lack of zelda news as of late, And I can not blame you for that. That is just how the cards have been dealt. My idea to make things interesting again is to make a page dedicated to all things people find on the internet that pertain to Zelda. Things such as a Zelda flash animation, to things such as a 1:1 scale replica of the Master Sword that some guy paid $3k+ for. Link - http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2006/11/27/6085
(Not the original article, I can't seem to find it :(
Anyway just my 2 cents.

It kind of saddens me to see the site failing, but I'm confident you can turn this around in your favour, DSCUBED. :)
I would say go with all the suggestions in your top post. The kind of things I'd like to hear in a podcast are discussion, discussion, discussion! Talk about theories or look in-depth at characters, etc. Just make sure it's discussion based and not rant based as so many podcasts seem to be these days.
The fact that you stopped to ask why so many people have a problem with the current Hylia just shows your commitment to improve, and to that extent I'm very impressed.

Haven't posted here, much less poked around in a long while. Not since approximately November of 2007. Mostly due in part to the hackers & spammers.
I didn't really mind that The Hylia had news that wasn't related to Zelda. Zelda news isn't always going to be out there & available all the time. That's how I see it. And then when you get what Nintendo pulled during the development of Twilight Princess well it can get a bit boring checking back on a fansite that has no new news because there isn't any.
But it was the spammers that mostly kept me from here (in addition to the OS on the PC I was using got corrupted & I had been too lazy to bother bookmarking all my sites... again). Hopefully we won't see the rampant spammers spamming about anal sex as much as it was 3+ months ago.
Though I really wish I could actually offer a suggestion to improve the Hylia. It is certainly among the more timely fan sites when it comes to reporting Zelda-related news. Another fan site I frequent often posts new news a week or so after the Hylia has posted the same news.

I'm very happy that you've kept this site going DSCUBED. It's always been one of my favorite places to go for breaking news on anything related to Zelda. The fact that we're in a severe LoZ drought right now is the main reason, I believe, that there's just not much to report.
Usually by the time the fanfare of one LoZ game has died down another one is already being planned and there's screens and interview quotes to discuss but this isn't the case this go around. Nintendo has basically given us nothing concerning the next installment and everything has already been discussed to death.
I still pass through here about every other day to read the articles and I really enjoy them. The only thing I can suggest is to wait for the information dam to break and everything will be back to normal. Until then, keep up the good work!

I am the worlds # 1 Zelda fan i'll played the first series all the way 2 to hour glass and beated them all I think what would be an exciting and fun thing for u guys to do is make a very long Zelda game that has a lot of discs kind of like what Mistwalker tried to do with Lost Odyssey but has more long hours in the process.I also agree with everyone else that you should make another one like Ocarina of Time and Majors Mask was the shit!I think you should one thatis realistic like when link opens a map in the dungon he should really do so like he should have a carrying bag and stops and opens it and looks on it and the game camera zooms in on it.... that would be so cool. Also should have more riding action not that twilight princess didn't show that but more of a since western like chases of Zoro like he practily stands up on the horse while it moves , moreof that since..that would be great too.The fighting style should be like samurais and maybe a little of slowmotion feel.On one series it could be blood and gore since over the years it has moved from E to T and eventually M...lol.That being said I wish the new zela game could something like that....... it would so cooooooooolllll
