IGN Leak: Retro Was Working on Wii Zelda
05-28-2009

Once again, I find myself saying, "Who'da thunk it?" Always a source for interesting tidbits, IGN's Voice Chat podcast has once again revealed some interesting Zelda-related information. The guys over at Nintendo Everything are always dutiful in their Voice Chat summaries and have just posted up their most recent one which details the following about Zelda:

- Heard crazy rumblings last week
- NOTHING IS CONFIRMED, NO LONGER TRUE
- 95% sure this was true at one time
- A year plus ago, Retro Studios was doing the new Zelda or doing something big with it
- For one reason or another that’s not the case anymore they don’t believe
- Not working on it anymore
- Got reliable info, there were internet rumors at one point
- This is a rumor, really good rumor, since has been debunked that they’re working on it
- They are not making that game anymore
- Matt thinks Nintendo is downplaying their conference and will have a bigger show then they’re letting on
- Bozon thinks the conference will be a split: 50 - 50 (casual and hardcore)
- Iwata, Reggie, Cammie will be on stage, probably Miyamoto as well
- Matt hoping Retro unveils their new game
- There hasn’t been another New Super Mario Bros. game for the DS even though it has sold well

As you can see, there is also a bit about what this year's E3 will bring, though nothing specific about Zelda is mentioned. Matt Casamassina tends to be a pretty good source for information and his slip-ups are often some of the biggest godsends we see in the Nintendo world. Since it seems that Retro is no longer working on the title, I am not sure this really matters. Unless of course that very title is still in development by other parts of Nintendo and may thus have certain Retro-esque elements in the final product; who knows? Of course, Nintendo Everything also has a full summary of the podcast, which contains other interesting elements.

Just thought you'd find that interesting.
