Next Wii Zelda to see a "fresh surprise."

Finally! Some dirt (if you really want to call it that) on the next Zelda for Wii.
Evidently, the Official Nintendo Magazine did an interview with Eiji Aonuma, current director of The Legend of Zelda games at Nintendo. This interview, to be published in full on December 18th, should be a great read, but Zentendo managed to get a blurb out of it.
When Aonuma was asked about how different the next Wii Zelda will be from previous installments, Aonuma replied:
"It is something we used to talk about with Mr Miyamoto, and he and I agree that if we are following the same structure again and again, we might not be able to give long time Zelda fans a fresh surprise." So we have been trying something new in terms of the structure of the Wii version of the new Zelda game this time. I am really hopeful that people will be surprised with the changes we have implemented for this Wii version."
There was also a Motion Plus support confirmed when Aonuma said, "I hope that we can show you something at the E3 show next year and it is something we are hopeful will be surprising,"
Needless to say, these bits are not super concrete, but it of course is food for thought. While we don't yet know what the change will be, I think we should keep an open mind when we do see it. As we have seen with games like Wind Waker, even turns in the series that may have initially seemed radical have turned out to be quite good. Who knows if this change to the Zelda franchise will dwarf Wind Waker's new graphical style. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

"We are proud to present to you: Wii Zelda:episode 1.
This new revolutionary game uses the same time-proven formula, but in order to make the players feel more connected to Link, every Rupee spent in-game is equivalent to 1 USD. ...basic equipment available for additional charge... Any questions?... No, Link will not start out with a sword, but his trademark clothes and a wooden sword can be purchased for 100 USD each."

"Fresh surprise"?
Here's hoping it's not as "refreshing" as the "new" role for Ganondorf in Twilight Princess Aonuma went on about in an interview way back when. Apparently he'd forgotten A Link to the Past.
Personally, I'll believe it when I see it. My faith in "freshness" for Zelda is a bit cynical post-Twilight Princess.

While i'm certain nintendo would never make you buy link's clothes(although i would if i could), they do seem to love releasing new "add-on" peripherals throughout a console's lifespan. I don't want to buy a wii motion plus. I just want it to be really accurate the first time.
@TheTrueLegend Haha. Yeah i know. Fuck that noise.

Well, in the next Wii Zelda, Princess Zelda will have a special new role as well...she helps you defeat Ganon at the end!
...Wait, what, what do you mean that's already been done three times already? Well, she'll look different, she'll have red hair and fire laser arrows instead of light arrows. Revolutionary!
sarc/off

In Twilight Princess, Ganondorf was working through Zant from the grave. This led to a different set of events in terms of his character arc when compared to past games. That IS a new role for him, is it not? I don't follow.
bastian:"Unlike you lot, I'm NOT excited about any changes. I like my formulaic Zelda games (collect three of these things, get the master sword, defeat ganon)."
So basically, you just want to play Ocarina Of Time over and over again? Good idea. Why don't you go ahead and do that. But some of us want a new Zelda.

That joke would've worked better if it had some relevance...no one said anything about Zelda <_<

@Magnus
Ganondorf isn't dead, he's sealed in the Twilight Realm. Well, I guess he could be dead in there, but there wasn't anything to indicate that conclusively.
Which is the more or less the same thing in A Link to the Past when he works through Agahnim to come back to life. Pretty much the exact same concept.

Only I'm pretty sure Ganondorf didn't plan on getting back into Hyrule. He just granted his powers to Zant on the condition that he completely take over. When Zant failed, Ganondorf took over his body. However, Zant came back and killed his own Hyrule form, thereby causing Ganondorf to die.
Or at least, that's how I remember it. Come to think of it, I could be wrong.

Honestly in my opinion the game was amazing, nothing wrong with it at all and it was my favorite Zelda game to date, I played it on the gamecube so I didn't have to suffer using the wiimote, No offense to anyone but I prefer to play zelda with a normal controller. I thought the story was grand the gameplay was amazing and the game was a 10/10 for me. As for the next Zelda to come out, according to the info I found by http://rapid4me.com SE, not enough information has leaked yet. there are 3 possible titles for the new zelda to be released in 2010 but no actual release date or confirmation on a new game. the possible titles are: 1. the dark sage. 2. the valley of the floods or 3. Luna's phlite.
