Princess and Tetris DS Update
Nintendo of America, Inc.,
released new information on Tetris DS, including the "Mission
Mode", which has a player race against the clock in a Legend
of Zelda themed game. Nintendo also released another screen shot of
the Zelda mode, although it is just an updated version of the previous
image, but it does show off more details than before. There's also
a small update on Twilight Princess.
In the Zelda "Mission Mode",
you have to complete the tasks given to you in the top screen in a
certain time frame, which is indicated by your "heart meter"
on the bottom right. As your hearts decrease, your time runs out.
Obviously, when they run out, you die (and are treated to a classic
little scene fans will remember). The music is also from the original
Legend of Zelda title, and the sound effects are present as well.
Pretty sweet box art. Would be sweeter
with Zelda stuff.
In other news, Reggie Fils-Aime
confirmed in an interview with Engadnet that Twilight Princess will
only play on Revolution thanks to the backwards compatibility of the
system. He also reminded fans that the GCN games put on Revolution
can only be played using GCN peripherals. This, for now, dismisses
the possibility of Twilight Princess utilizing the Revolution functionality
- and dismissing the NGC report.
Reggie also reaffirmed that
Twilight Princess is being focused on solely as a GameCube title,
and it is not "pushed back" - he insists the intended release
date has always been the same since the initial delay last year.
Reggie promises more information
will be revealed at E3, although there is a slight chance of new tidbits
at GDC 2006. More than likely, though, a few Revolution details will
emerge then, not new Twilight Princess info. Finally, Official Nintendo
Magazine (UK) reports it will not have exclusive media of Twilight
Princess in its Volume 2 issue which hits stands March 16th. They
say Nintendo has changed their mind and will instead release new media
at GDC.
Hmm, Nintendo going back on
its word. This sounds strangely familiar.
