Home | News | GDC 2006, TP's Perfection, Zelda DS

The annual Game Developer's Conference is underway in San Jose, California as we speak. Many Zelda fans are anxiously anticipating some form of new media, in particular a new trailer, since last year Nintendo released a new Twilight Princess trailer under the same circumstances. It's been over seven months since any new official media has been released, and many fans are getting antsy, especially in light of the news from Shigeru Miyamoto himself that Twilight Princess will have ties to Revolution.

The keynote speaker last year was the president of Nintendo Company, Limited, Satoru Iwata. During his presentation, Nintendo showed off a new trailer for the then unnamed Twilight Princess. The video was shown after the conference on Nintendo's Zelda.com site, and then subsequent news sites had direct copies up soon after. This year, Iwata speaks on March 23rd from 10:30 - 11:30am Pacific Standard Time.

Now, the exciting tidbit is that Official Nintendo Magazine delayed their issue until later this month in order to get "exclusive" new Zelda info. They blamed the delay on production issues, but an insider said they are awaiting the new information about Zelda at GDC. I tried to get this information verified by our US sources, but of course they said they don't have any information on the GDC keynote at this time.

Could we finally get real new information at an official event? Will the rumors and speculation end, or will we all have to endure the final leg of the haul to E3 for anything official? Sooner or later, Nintendo has to break the silence. Here's hoping to it happening this week.

In other news, Shigeru Miyamoto told Official Nintendo Magazine that the new Zelda will be "perfect". He also had this to add, "Nintendo has said the delays are not a result of development problems or from converting Twilight Princess to a Revolution-only title, but to add content and improve the game." This statement should ultimately prove that NGC Magazine, while correct in stating Twilight Princess would have functionality with Revolution's controller, was ultimately wrong in saying the delay last fall was for this very same reason.

Another interesting development we can only now speculate on as rumor is that IGN posted an article stating Zelda DS would come out this December. However, we never saw the article and are only going on hearsay. Still, it seems the hype machine is picking up for Twilight Princess. You can almost see the new information now (prays).
