  Home | Community | Welcome to 2006

We've only been around for a few months, but apparently we're making some good progress. 2006 looks to be a very busy year in the realm of Zelda, after a pretty empty 2005 (sure, E3 and The Minish Cap came out, but compared to past years, it's lacking). The Hylia also has a pretty big year ahead of itself, and we would just like to take this moment to thank you all for helping us become so successful and to let you know what to expect in the coming year.

The biggest news on the horizon for our site is the fact TSA and TPZ will be attending the Electronic Entertainment Expo in May 2006. TSA's contact at Golin/Harris is getting him two press conference passes, and through his professional job he has obtained a media badge to access the show floor two hours before the general access. While we do not know exactly what will be present at E3 in terms of Zelda, it is a safe bet to assume something of it will appear. Twilight Princess may finally be shown off in final form, the Revolution Zelda may be shown off or the DS Zelda title may finally be revealed (cross fingers that Tingle RPG is a bad dream). All the while we're waiting for this to happen, we here at The Hylia are looking into ways to bring you coverage of the even as it happens. We've invested in a new media laptop setup with some solutions for live streaming video and we'll be sure to put up tons of photos in the media gallery.

Why is Link fighting a Goron? Is that a tower behind them? We'll know by year's end.

Twilight Princess is also going to probably be the first big Zelda game of the year, and more-than-likely we're going to be one of the first Zelda sites to be able to cover it in detail. We're on the mailing list of Nintendo to get a copy of the game in advance to its release date, which means we will be able to provide screens, videos and coverage leading up to the release in a controlled fashion as to not spoil the experience. We feel glad it will be us who gets the title ahead of the rest because we feel we have the responsibility to not merely post "everything possible" like most other sites would in this situation. It is our job to be responsible in covering the game before its release to enhance the experience, not ruin it with major spoilers. Additionally, for those wanting a guide - TSA will be putting online a speed walkthrough with the help of Archive.org and Speed Demos Archive on the day the game is released so those who don't want to purchase a guide or don't want to wait for GameFAQs can see a visual way to beat the game.

Last year, we advertised Zelda Box and Zelda no Video being translated for fans to enjoy. I planned to have Zelda no Video done by today, but sadly it hasn't even really begun. In about a month, we will be putting out segments of the video in original format so everyone can at least see the video, and hopefully some fans will come forth to help translate it. We've had a few offers to translate the Zelda Box - we're working fast to finish up the scans, which should be done by the end of this week. Hopefully these two items provide important and unique information about the Zelda series, perhaps some clues to the timeline or development process of the games to help fans better understand Zelda.

Appearing in TP? Maybe.

One of the main focuses of this site is the advanced gameplay areas in each game section. I've been without my capture devices for some time now, but that is about to end. I will begin working on these areas very soon to fill them up with amazing stuff that very few people have ever seen. If you haven't seen the epic thread at SDA about Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask, let's just say we've found out stuff as epic as the Arwing code, only what we discovered has some practical use.

Our final big project for the year we hope to pick up is the Storybook area, which is currently off-line. This section of the site will replicate the feel of a story book, attempting to tell the stories of each game in a unique, visual way. We know several sites have theories and endless amounts of text resources and guides, but who wants to really read through all of it? This project is currently being done by a few new staff members who have extensive expertise in Maya, Flash and other graphic/rendering programs. We hope to have it finished by summer of this year.

Lastly, you can continue to count on us (most of the time) to have major news as soon as it hits. There are some elements out of our hands, and as you come to try to be a news site, you will learn that many times you make calls on a second's notice that can have negative backlash if you made the wrong choice. We'll always accept responsibility for mistakes, and we'll always do our best to get you accurate information, even if that info turns out to be obsoleted later on (see Zelda Movie report). If news hits that is questionable, The Hylia has the contacts to try to establish credibility of the source. As always, we will continue to bring you our unique feature editorials which challenge you to think about the series, and of course, the Old Man!

So thank you for support, and be sure to check out as many other fan sites as you can. Zelda fandom is more than one site, and more than just any one fan. Enjoy it all while you can, you never know what the next year will bring to our community.
