Home | Community | Halo CE Zelda Mod Video

Some time ago, the Zelda community was made aware of several ongoing mod and emulation projects involving Ocarina of Time. The most popular, which is still discussed today, is the Halo CE mod based on Ocarina of Time. Created by a bunch of hardcore Halo and Zelda fans over at Project Zelda Online, there's several videos released so far, including a video displaying footage of Link going across Hyrule, replicated in the Halo engine. It's pretty amazing.

It's coming...Zelda frag fests.
The footage itself merely shows Link in a red tunic (Goron Tunic) running around Lon Lon Ranch and shooting arrows around. You can see the amazing detail put into the ranch. The player then climbs a tower and you can see around Hyrule field - something you couldn't do in the actual N64 game if you managed to find a way beyond borders. The entrance to Gerudo Valley can be seen at this point as well.

Finally, the player jumps onto Epona - a modified Warthog - and "rides" her across the ranch and finally out into Hyrule Field, where you can see the gate to Hyrule castle. It's really awe-inspiring to see so much work go into a project like this. The voice on the video explains this is merely an alpha - an incomplete build of the mod - and the site does not specify exactly when the game will be done, and if Halo or Zelda fans can get a copy and duke it out online. This is, of course, for the PC, not the XBOX.

While there are other fan projects in the works (Cel-Shaded Ocarina of Time, Ocarina of Time 2D), my vote goes to this one as of now for the coolest. If you wish to see the full video hosted on Google (not sure if it is supposed to be there, Google Video is going to become notorious in the coming months for theft issues), you can check it out by clicking here .
