It seems Nintendo wanted to make a splash
with its announcement for being at Comic-Con, despite every other
booth having their info public last week. Though there will be no
Wii or Twilight Princess (which we reported on days ago), the Nintendo
DS and upcoming releases will be present. But no mention of Phantom
Hourglass, though it is not ruled out completely.
According to the press release, these are the games that will be
present: Nintendo® offers countless comic book and video game
fans at the annual Comic-Con in San Diego a chance to try their
hands at upcoming games for Nintendo DS™, including Elite Beat Agents™,
Mario™ Hoops 3 on 3, Pokémon® Mystery Dungeon, Star Fox®
Command and many more.
However, The Legend of Zelda will be at
Comic-Con in some form. Special guest Charles Martinet, the voice
of Mario, will also be available throughout the show for autographs.
Popular Nintendo characters Link and Mario will make appearances.
So it seems "mascot" Link, as my friend has coined him,
will appear - the same costume from E3 2005 everyone saw.
What caught my attention, though, is the
fact visitors are encouraged to dress as their favorite Nintendo character
to increase their chances of winning swag. Fans should visit the Nintendo
booth for prizes and more, including exclusive 8" x 10"
oversized postcards given out each day (perfect to collect as a set
and have Charles sign). Other giveaways include Nintendo DS Lite systems
and Nintendo DS software.
Good thing my girlfriend is into Cosplay!
Guess it will finally pay off. Perhaps there will be a Phantom Hourglass
downloadable demo, since attendees can visit the booth to download
Nintendo DS trials and demos of games. Fans can also visit the multi-player
zone and compete with other Nintendo DS players. Still, no mention
of Zelda, but hey, it could happen.
Did you know there is a documentary on The Legend of Zelda series?
Unfortunately, it is only in Japanese, but with the help of some
fans, one day this priceless work may be translated for all to enjoy!
